

Louis F. “Louie” Simko, 77, passed away at 10:15 p.m. Thursday, January 2, 2003 at Memorial Medical Center. Louie was born April 2, 1925 in Springfield, the son of Stephen and Marie Koffko Simko. He married Shirley J. Keltner on April 7, 1951 at St. Agnes Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on October 7, 1980. He retired from Certified Equipment, and farmed in the Springfield area for over 30 years. Louie was a Cubs fan and enjoyed gardening, jig-saw puzzles and all sports. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Louis M. on April 19, 2002; one sister, Mary McGrath; three brothers, Andrew, Steven and John Simko. He is survived by a daughter-in-law: Patricia A. Simko of Springfield; three sisters: Regina (husband, Jim) Disco of Springfield, Kathryn Carey of Fort Collins, CO and Sr. Ann Simko, O.S.U. in Alton; four brothers: James (wife, Sue) of Springfield, Emery Simko of Springfield, Frank (wife, Delores) and Tom (wife, Sharon) Simko both of Galt, CA; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home from 4-7:00 p.m. Sunday, January 5, 2003 with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 6, 2003 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Fr.
