

Lou Ann was born on May 25, 1939, in Alton, the daughter of William and Betty (Davis) Narup. She married Allen Patrick Henderson on June 10, 1961, in Alton; he preceded her in death on April 10, 2014.
Lou Ann was a person of many interests and harbored a great love of learning. She was a teacher early
in her career and went on to earn an associate degree in mathematics, a bachelor’s degree in accounting, and a master’s degree in education and technology. She worked beside her husband as they built Allen Henderson & Associates. She then went on to teach in the Springfield public schools for many years. Lou Ann tutored many students in mathematics over the years and was active in her church and pro-life causes. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to many.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mary Katherine Narup Shank; and daughter-in-law, Angie Ley-Henderson.
She is survived by her children, Maria Ann (husband, Peter) Bitzer of Manchester, MO, Julie Marie DeMatteo of Chicago, Mary Jennifer Henderson of Chicago, Mark Allen (wife, Beth) Henderson of Des Moines, Matthew James Henderson, and Paul Kevin Henderson, both of Chicago; ten grandchildren, Allen and Karl Bitzer, Katie, Anne Marie, and Nick DeMatteo, Nicole, Alissa, Joel, Hannah, and Max Henderson; a sister Nancy (Dale) St. Peters and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation was provided prior to ceremonies.
Memorial Gathering and Memorial Mass: Family will receive friends from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1725 South Walnut St., Springfield. A Memorial Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jeff Grant, celebrant.

The family is being served by Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield.
