

Lucia V. Mixon Hiott, 94, of Springfield, Illinois formerly of Walterboro, SC, passed away at 8:12 p.m., February 2, 2002 at St. John’s Hospice. She was born on October 1, 1907 in Walterboro, South Carolina, the daughter of George Caulder and Mamie Herndon Robertson. She married George H. Dillard. She then married Andrew B. Mixon and he preceded her in death and later married Walter Hiott and he also preceded her in death. Mrs. Hiott received her nursing degree in 1926. She had been employed at various area hospitals and also served as a private duty care nurse in the South Carolina area. She had been an active member of First Baptist Church of Walterboro, SC. She was an avid gardener and seamstress and was also a loving and faithful grandmother. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and one sister; Eunice Caulder Robertson. Surviving are one daughter; Mary Anne Heard of Houston, TX, one son; George Dillard of Florence, SC, 6 grandchildren; Richard (Charlotte) Rahm of Dallas, TX., Lisa (Bill) Kienzle of Chatham, Mark Rahm of Dallas, TX, Joseph Heard of LaFayette, LA, Scott Heard of Houston, TX and Susan Dillard of California, 3 great grandchildren; Erika and Reed Bantle and Logan Kienzle all of Chatham, IL, three step great grandchildren; Jennifer Kienzle of Orange City, IA, and Sara and Amanda Kienzle both of Polo, IL. Friends may call at Fred Parker Funeral Home 117 Paul St., Walterboro, SC 29488 from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 6, 2002. Funeral services will be held at Fred Parker Funeral Home on Thursday, February 7, 2002 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Posey Belcher officiating. Burial will be in Sand Hill Cemetery, Varnville, South Carolina. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John's Hospital School of Nursing 421 N. 9th St., Springfield, IL 62702.
