

Lynn A. Shanklin, born December 1, 1948 in Springfield, passed away in her home on September 13, 2017. She was the daughter of Robert and Virginia "Shorty" Shanklin, and she is survived by her brother, Richard; her cousin, Linda Wilson; aunt, Alice Cantrall; sister-in-law, Tana Alexander; and friend, JoAnne Dawson.
A graduate of Springfield High School, she attended both Illinois State University and the University of Denver. After graduating from the University of Denver, she lived in Denver and became a rabid Denver Broncos fan. She moved back to Springfield and worked for over 35 years at the Illinois Department of Insurance, recently retiring from that agency. She traveled extensively with her family and friends to many places in the world, including Hong Kong, Greece, the Mediterranean, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Alaska, and many National Parks in the West. She loved music, especially jazz. She was passionate about Bill Evans and enjoyed collecting all his works. She was an avid photographer and Trekkie. She served on the Springfield Arts Commission and supported Springfields First Night events for many years. Most importantly, she loved her four cats-Tinker, Bebop, Spot, and Sweet Pea!
Lynn was preceded in death by her parents; uncle, Robert Cantrall; and beloved nephew, Robby Shanklin.
Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 10:00 10:45 a.m. on Monday, October 16, 2017 at Boardman-Smith Funeral Home, 800 South Grand Ave. West, Springfield.
Memorial Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 16, 2017 at Boardman-Smith Funeral Home with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating.
