
M. Ruth Marx, 93, a lifelong resident of Springfield, died at 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 14, 2006 at Capitol Care Center. Ruth was born on May 23, 1912 in Springfield, the daughter of John and Louisa Maurer Marx. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Altar Guild, St. Louise de Marillac Guild, Springfield Toast Mistress Club and Catholic Daughters of America. She retired in 1980 from Sorling Law Office after forty-seven years of service as legal secretary and the bookkeeper. She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters: Mary Jane, Helen and Ada Marx. She is survived by one sister, Edna Marx of Springfield and several cousins. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2006 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1345 N. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2006 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. Thomas P. Holinga, V.F. celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1345 N. 6th St., Springfield, IL 62702 or St. Joseph Grade School, 1344 N. 5th St. Springfield, IL 62702.
