Al was born in Miami, FL, July 9, 1935 the son of Horace Joseph and Hortense Joyce (Bervaldi) Talbott. He married Adela “Dolly” NaplesSeptember 8, 1956 and she preceded him in death in 1983. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Doug Talbott.
Al married Doris A. “Dory” Bearhinger in Springfield, July 20, 1985 and she survives. He is also survived by his children: Kim (Bill) Chestnut of Pleasant Plains, IL, Robert “Bob” (Jane) Talbott of Tuscola, IL, Cherryl (David) Walker of Athens, IL, Douglas “Doug” (Kathi) Beahringer of Springfield, IL, Donald “Don” (Shari) Beahringer of Pawnee, IL, and Carrie (Butch) Huggins of Springfield, IL, his grandchildren: Vanasa (Serrick Orr) Brittin of Athens, IL, Michael (Andrea Wilmore) Talbott of Tuscola, IL, Michelle (Kirtus) French of Springfield, IL, Jamie (Andy) Meyerholz of Gulf Breeze, FL, Jennifer Talbott of Normal, IL, Alicia (Aaron) Hill of Springfield, IL, Seth Huggins of Springfield, IL Krysla Beahringer of Pawnee, IL, Brian (Stephanie) Talbott of Lexington, IL, Alic Walker of Springfield, IL,Tracy (Tim) Mallette of Albuquerque, NM, and Dan Beahringer of Springfield, his great grandchildren: Matthew Brittin-McCue, McKinzie Talbott, Kaiyah Bubniak, Kirk Meyerholz, Vincent Talbott, Luke Meyerholz, Joe Talbott, Remi Talbott, Emmy French, Paisley Wilmore and Presley Wilmore. There are several nieces, nephews and cousins as well as a host of friends and acquaintances.
Al proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1955-1959 and then in the Reserves until 1963. He earned a bachelor of science in Engineering and began his career with AT&T. He later moved to Illinois where he worked for the State of Illinois Central Management Services earning several promotions until becoming the director of telecommunications. He later retired from the State of Illinois Commerce Commission in December 1999
Al and Dory loved to travel in their motor coach. They were strong, active members of FMCA (Family Motor Coach Association). Al held several offices within the association including as president of the Midwest Area Cooperative (MAC). In all, the Talbotts were members of 14 chapters of the FMCA throughout the Midwest including charter members of 3 chapters.
Al was also a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose.
Visitation: The Talbott family will greet family and friends at the Bisch Funeral Home West 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd. Springfield, IL on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 from 5-7 pm. Rev. Mark Gifford will officiate private family services with military honors conducted by the U.S. Air Force. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
