

Madeline Kelly, 88, of Springfield, passed away at 2:05 p.m. on Wednesday, February 21, 2001 at St. John's Hospital. She was born September 12, 1912 the daughter of John and Rose White Kelly in Mechanicsburg. She married James L. ''Jay'' Kelly February 9, 1937 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Springfield. Mrs. Kelly worked for the State of Illinois in the Civil Service Commission Department for 14 years, she also worked for the Kelly Brother's Supermarket for 12 years. She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She was involved with the children's supper hour at the church and she served on various committees, boards and activities for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son: William Arthur Kelly and one brother: Bud Kelly. She is survived by her husband: James L. ''Jay'' Kelly; one son: Larry (wife, Gail) Kelly of Springfield, two daughters:Judy (husband, Chuck) Smith of Sherman, Kathy Ander of Hillsborough, NC; one brother: Lin Kelly of Las Vegas, NV; nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Friends may call at Asbury United Methodist Church from 10-11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 24, 2001. Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend William Burton and Reverend Ted Fritz officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Asbury United Methodist Church 1229 E. South Grand, Springfield, IL 62703.
