

Margaret Mylia Best of Springfield passed away at 9:50 p.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2009 at Capitol Care Center. Margaret was born May 9th in Worcester, MA the daughter of William and Dorothy Ann Lemon Best. She was a graduate of Lanphier High School and attended Lincoln Land Community College. Margaret attended Toronto Bible College for two years and while there, was a summer missionary in Mexico. She held various jobs while living in Toronto, Canada for sixteen years, including authorization of unloading ships in Toronto Harbor. Margaret later worked at McGraw Hill Publishers, Dodge Construction Division, for ten years as a reporter. Margaret enjoyed performing secret acts of kindness in very unusual ways. She also enjoyed sharing her love of Jesus with death row inmates. She had a gift for reaching out to the truly unloved, who were in many cases, the rejects of society. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by a chosen sister, Shari Lynn Ramsey of Norton, KS, numerous cousins, Evelyn Ann Best (husband, John) Kauffman of rural McLean County and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many friends. Margaret has requested that friends and family wear a touch of purple, her favorite color, as they attend visitation from 5:00 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 with a funeral ceremony following at 7:00 p.m. at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, with Vaughn Beeman, officiating. Burial will be held at 3:00 pm on Thursday, January 29, 2009 in Lenora South Cemetery in Lenora, KS.
