Margaret Lynne "Midge" Best-Mellinger

She was born in Springfield, July 30, 1941 the daughter of Herman and Dorothy Mae (Dobson) Best. She married Willard John Mellinger in 1962 and they later divorced.

Midge worked at Franklin Life Insurance Company for several years and then retired from St. Frances Convent in Springfield. She was a member Trinity Lutheran Church, LCMS, in Auburn, IL. and the Eagles Club in Springfield.

She loved to play BINGO and enjoyed a good card game. Midge loved her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren and family gatherings. She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her two sisters; Dorothy Best and Patricia Rabbitt, and two brothers; Harry and Herman Best.

Surviving are her two sons: Stephen (wife Kay) Mellinger of Dawson, IL and Jerald Mellinger of Springfield, four grandsons; Jacob, Rath, Ryk and Jeremy Mellinger, a granddaughter, Vangie (husband Mike) Preston and two great grandchildren; Kaylee Preston and Tyler Stratton. Also surviving are her brother, Charles (wife Trudy) Best of Chatham and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation and Service: The family will receive friends from 9-11 am on Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2016 at Bisch and Son Funeral Home 505 E. Allen St. Springfield, IL Funeral services will follow at 11 am at the funeral home with Fiore Belmonte officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
