

Margery Maskey, 89, of Springfield, passed away suddenly on October 20, 2011, at her home. Margie was born on October 8, 1922 in Staunton, IL to Thomas and Mary Hardy. She married Thomas Richard Maskey on July 27, 1946 in Livingston, IL. He preceded her in death in April, 2001. Margie was a homemaker who excelled at cooking, baking, gardening, sewing and holiday decorating, especially during the Christmas season when she lit up her house on North Sixth Street. She was also employed as a phone operator in Michigan prior to her marriage, worked in the emergency room at St. John's Hospital and served for many years as an election judge. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Thomas Hardy and Allen Hardy and two sisters: Flora Johnson and Ermah Jean Aschbacher. She is survived by her three sons: Thomas (wife, Pamela) Maskey, Jr. of Fairfax, VA, Mark (wife, Cynthia) Maskey, David (wife, Taffy) Maskey both of Springfield; two daughters: Kathleen Maskey, and Rebecca Maskey, both of Chicago; seven grandchildren, Christopher, Elizabeth (husband, Grafton), Matthew, Emily, Claire, Tyler and Tanner; and one great-grandchild, Brennan. She is also survived by two sisters: Clara Hamilton of Fairfield, Ohio and Marilyn DuVall of Tucson, AZ and two sisters-in-law, Norma Maskey of Springfield and Mildred Caldieraro of Staunton, IL; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 2:00 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 1:30 p.m. on Monday, October 24, 2011 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Msgr. Thomas P. Holinga officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
