Marianne Bolt Charles

Marianne Bolt Charles, 73, of Springfield, passed away at 8:32 p.m. on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Heritage Hospice. Marianne was born on November 9, 1943 in Springfield, the daughter of George W. and Jacqueline E. Link Starling. She married Theodore G. Charles, Jr. in 1990; he preceded her in death in 2002. Marianne was a 1961 graduate of Ursuline Academy and Springfield Beauty School. She opened Marianne SHOPPE in 1978 and in 1981 went into banking until her retirement in 1992. Marianne was a member and former president of the American Legion Post 32, former president of the North Eagles - Riverton, lifetime member of the American Veterans of Foreign Wars and the DAV, and a member of the K of C Auxiliary and the American Banking Association. She was voted Mother of the Year of the Eagles Auxiliary in 1994-1995. Marianne enjoyed collecting angels and butterflies, and gardening. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, John Starling. She is survived by her children, Theresa Ann (husband, Jack) Cole of St. Petersburg, FL, James Michael Bolt of Pawnee, and William Clayton (wife, Anna) Bolt of Springfield; six grandchildren, Aaron and Nick Bolt, Heather Cole, and Corey, Ashley and William Bolt, ; five great-grandchildren; four siblings, James "Jim" (wife, Beverly) Starling of Peoria, Charles "Charlie" (wife, Sharon) Starling of Springfield, William "Bill" Starling of Springfield, and Georgie Dean Erlenbush of Edinburg; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Starling of Dawson; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 18, 2017 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
