Marianne K. Weed, 93, of Springfield, died at 8:20 a.m. on Monday, February 26, 2018 at The Villas of South Park in Chatham, IL. Marianne was born April 1, 1924 in Chicago, the daughter of Richard S. and Marian G. Lonergan Keating. Marianne graduated from St. Casimir Academy, class of 1942. She earned a bachelors degree in Chemistry from Loyola University in Chicago, and later earned a masters degree in Public Administration from Sangamon State University in Springfield. Marianne worked as a Chemical Librarian at Swift & Co. and Wilson & Co. in Chicago. She also worked for the Illinois Department of Public Aid for 23 years as a case worker and then as a technical writer. She finished her working career with Catholic Charities. Marianne was an active member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and decorating her home. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Bernard, Martin, Richard, and Cecil Keating. She is survived by her children, Robert (Frankie) Weed of Springfield, Paula (Stephan) Kaplan of Springfield, Richard (Roxie) Weed of Highlands Ranch, CO, Christopher (Diane) Weed of Lakewood, CO, and Monica (Frank Smith) Weed of Chicago; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center following ceremonies. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N. Amos Ave., Springfield, with Rev. Robert J. Jallas, celebrant. Private family inurnment will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park at the Parkview South Columbarium.
