Marie Eloise Bomke, 87, of Springfield passed away on August 24, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born on February 2, 1934 in Chatham to Pearl Margaret Cantrall. Marie married Clarence Bomke in Springfield on July 25, 1953 and he survives.
Mrs. Bomke is also survived by her children: Dennis and Gregory Bomke of Springfield, Brian (Cathy) Bomke of Pleasant Plains and Steven (Cindy) Bomke of Springfield, six grandchildren: Jessica (Jason) Podany, Justin (Kimberly) Bomke, Jordan (Brad) Byers, Janesse Bomke, Chase (Rachel) Bomke and Erica (Mike) Bartlett, fifteen great-grandchildren: Eli, Anna Marie, Lena, Eloise and Georgiana Podany, Finnigan, Liam and Sawyer Bomke, Benjamin and Anthony Bomke and Jetson and Zoey Bartlett, and Hadley, Harper and Harrison Byers, her twin sister Margaret Wilson and several nieces and nephews.
Marie was a Longaberger consultant for over twenty five years and continued to sell her baskets and pottery at Bomke’s Patch, greeting guests with her beautiful smile. Marie and Clarence enjoyed many groups of friends over the years playing pinochle on Saturday nights and the girls coffee group. Her dedication to her family never waivered. Her attention to detail was a super power. This inherited trait is exemplified throughout the farm. We will work hard to honor her legacy and continue creating memories for ourselves and our children that she would be proud of.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Friday August 27, 2021 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2477 West Washington Street, and burial will follow at Farmington Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 9:30am until the time of service Friday at church.
