

Marie Gerardine “Gerry” Mack, 87, of Chatham - dedicated wife, mother of one, sister of three, aunt of several, and friend to many - passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at Springfield Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.
Gerry was born September 25, 1935, in Ann Arbor, MI, to William and Ellen Grehan Murphy. She married Robert J. Mack on December 27, 1969, in Ann Arbor, MI.
Gerry attended high school in Ann Arbor, MI and studied interior design at Michigan State University. She had a long and varied career working in banking, interior design, and retail sales. Gerry was steadfastly involved in her local Catholic church, St. Joseph the Worker, “St. Joe’s”, in Chatham. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, quilting, and was a master at varied textile arts and crafts. Gerry also enjoyed baking and spent time with various gourmet dinner groups. Among her many talents, she was an expert bridge player. Gerry was a witty conversationalist, fond of the occasional irreverent comment, and known for her generosity and willingness to help friends.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Robert J. Mack of Chatham, and her son C. Murphy Mack of San Francisco, CA, who inherited her generosity and wit. Gerry is also survived by several nieces and nephews as well as her youngest sister of four siblings.
Funeral Mass: 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at her beloved church, St. Joseph the Worker, 700 E. Spruce St., Chatham, with Rev. Joseph Molloy, celebrant. A private family burial will follow at Chatham Memorial Cemetery.
