

Marilyn was born September 27, 1936, in Peoria, IL, the daughter of Benjamin “Big Pearl” and Marie (Meeker) Armstrong. She married Robert N. Hart on December 27, 1958, in Decatur, IL.
Marilyn earned her bachelor's degree from Millikin University and was employed as a secretary for District 186 until her retirement after 27 years of service. She was a long-time member of Faith Lutheran Church where she was an active volunteer at Blackhawk Elementary School through the church. Marilyn enjoyed playing bridge, working puzzles, and watching the St. Louis Cardinals. Most importantly, Marilyn loved spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Harry Armstrong; and great-grandson, Jameson Williams.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Robert “Bob” Hart of Springfield; son, Jeff N. (Mary Vosevich) Hart of Georgetown, KY; daughter, Vicki Rapier of Springfield; grandchildren, Megan Frank of Jackson, MO, and Sarah Rapier of Springfield; four great-grandchildren, Javeon Williams, Ethan and Camden Frank and Andersen Taylor; sisters-in-law, Marylyn Armstrong of Edwardsville and Marge Clinton of O’Fallon, MO, and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.
Memorial Gathering and Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield IL. A memorial ceremony will follow at 11:30 a.m.
Burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park.
