

Marilyn S. Luttrell, 81, of Springfield, died at 4:10 a.m. on Friday, June 24, 2016 at Taylorville Care Center. Marilyn was born July 2, 1934 in Mt. Sterling, IL, the daughter of Maurice C. and Velma L. Wright Peters. She married Edward W. Luttrell on May 30, 1953 in Biloxi, MS. Marilyn graduated from Feitshans High School in 1952, where she had been a member of the National Honor Society. She was employed as a bookkeeper and secretary until her retirement in 1993. Marilyn shared a passion for fishing on Sunset Lake in Girard and Pine Island, Florida with her husband, Ed. She loved a good book, long walks, jigsaw puzzles, and preparing wonderful meals for friends and familyespecially if it included the fish she caught. She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Ellyn Maxey; son-in-law, James W. Maxey; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Wheeler. She is survived by her husband, Ed Luttrell of Springfield; two sons, Stephen E. (wife, Lori) Luttrell of Springfield and Bradley W. (wife, Nora) Luttrell of Oklahoma City, OK; daughter, Kathryn Maxey of Chatham; grandchildren, Christopher Maxey, Marilyn, Magnus and Mairine Luttrell; great-grandchildren, Titus Luttrell and Jaylen and Jowan Davis; sister, Patricia Wheeler of Sacramento, CA; and several nieces and nephews. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. Private family ceremonies were held.
