

Marino “Dutch” Giacometti, 86, of Springfield, died at 4:25 a.m., Wednesday, September 29, 2004 at St. John’s Hospital ER. Marino was born April 6, 1918 in Frontenac, KS the son of Marino and Josephine Allegrucci Giacometti. He married Mary Ellen Phipps, September 4, 1940 in Springfield, MO. Mr. Giacometti operated and owned General Welding and Body Shop for 53 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Primo Giacometti; three sisters: Mary Morescki, Marcella Fabro and Angelina Spada. He is survived by his wife: Mary Ellen of Springfield; one son; Randy (wife, Nancy) Giacometti of Port Charlotte, FL; four grandchildren: Randy (wife, Ruth) Giacometti, Jr. of Sweetwater, TN, William (wife, Melody) Giacometti of Kingsport, TN, Julie (husband, Jeff) Norus of Port Charlotte, FL, Gina (husband, Chris) Nawada of Winter Haven, FL; seven great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Family will receive friends from 5-8:00 p.m. Sunday, October 3, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 4, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield with Scott Brindley officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery near Riverton.
