

Marjorie A. Cody, 71, of Springfield, died at 11:37 a.m. on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at St. John's Hospital. Marjorie was born September 2, 1943 in Pawnee, the daughter of Burl and Sophia Mary Bart Rape. Marjorie was a graduate of Pawnee High School. She was employed by the Hope Institute for 37 years as a Habilitation Specialist. She was also a Sales Associate for Sears for 15 years. She was known for being a protector, who loved her family, and cherished her grandchildren. She enjoyed bingo and slot machines in her spare time. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Burl Robert and Robert Francis Rape. She is survived by her four children, Debra Hinton of Chatham, Angela (husband, Clifford) Buscher of Springfield, Joseph (wife, Lori) Cody of Springfield, and Christopher Woods of Springfield; ten grandchildren, Josh and Jessica Hinton, Clifford III, Cody, and Brock Buscher, Alex Matheis, Cassidy Bruns, Kolton and Korbin Cody and Brandon Woods; two great-grandchildren, Payton and Lincoln Hinton; two siblings, Donald Roy (wife, Nancie) Rape of Arizona and Dorothy (husband, David) Eldredge of Rochester; and several nieces and nephews. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Ceremony and Gathering: A Memorial Ceremony will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 3, 2014 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating. Family will receive friends following the ceremony until 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hope Institute for Children and Families (for the Kids Night Out fund), 15 East Hazel Dell Lane, Springfield, IL 62712.
