Marjorie G. Grounds, 94, a long-time resident of the Springfield area before retiring to Ft Myers, FL, joined her husband, Loren (Jack) Grounds, and became an angel on January 31, 2011. She was born in Champaign, IL on November 24, 1916.
Marjorie is survived by her beloved children, Michael (Charlotte) Grounds of Springfield and Vicki (John) Barnard of St Charles, MO; her grandchildren, Douglas Grounds of Springfield, Timothy Barnard of Louisville, KY, and Kimberly (Jeremy) Warren of Elmhurst, IL; as well as, 3 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack in 1991 and her brother, Franklin Lovell in 1993.
Marjorie was a graduate of Champaign High School and Browns Business College. She managed Springfield Toy Center from 1958-1973 and was a member of the TRN Club on Lake Springfield. She enjoyed many hobbies including, gardening, reading, square dancing, playing cards, and traveling but most of all loved spending time with her family and friends.
Visitation will be Monday, February 7, from 10-11am at Cathedral of St Paul (2nd & Lawrence, Springfield) with Mass to follow at 11 am and burial at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
