Marjorie Helen Howard

She was born Feb. 8, 1931 in Virden, IL, the daughter of the late Oliver William and Nellie Joy (Taylor) Sheppard. She married Glenn E. Howard on March 23, 1991 in Springfield and he survives.

Mrs. Howard worked as an administrative assistant for the Illinois State Police in Springfield. She had been a member at Central Baptist Church in Springfield and also at First Baptist Church in Girard, IL. She previously had been a member at Wesley United Methodist Church in Charleston, IL. She was a member of the Girard High School Alumni Association and had been a member of the National Secretaries Association.

Besides her husband Glenn, she is survived by 2 stepchildren, Glenda Crump of Spring TX and Nancy (husband John) Spurlock of Alba, TX; 4 step-grandchildren, Brett Allen Crump, Danielle Crump, Patrick Glenn Spurlock and Victoria Spurlock; a sister Jean Hatcher of Ft. Worth, TX, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Gerald Sheppard and 3 sisters, Mary Mason, Norma McKenzie, and Vera Pratt.

Local arrangements are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill, Springfield, where visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 from 4 to 7 pm. Graveside funeral service will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Albion, Michigan.

Memorials may be made to the Girard High School Alumni Association Scholarship Fund.
