
Marjorie Fern Wermcrantz, 89, of Springfield, formerly of Valparaiso, Indiana, passed away Sunday, June 17, 2001, at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. Marjorie was born March 1, 1912 the daughter of Walter Henry and Lula Audrey Farwell Sater in Cassville, Missouri. On October 12, 1941 in Kahoka, Missouri. She married Eric Gustav Wermcrantz who immigrated from Lilla Edet, Sweden on April 12, 1927 and he preceded her in death in 1997. She graduated from Clovis High School in New Mexico in 1930 and received a nursing degree from St. Louis City Hospital and an advanced degree in Operating Room Technique from the University of Minnesota. She was the Operating Room Supervisor at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford, Illinois for six years. In 1998, she moved from Valparaiso, where she had lived for fifty years, to Springfield. She was a member of PEO-Chapter J in Valparaiso and the Heirloom Society. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Eric Gustove Wermcrantz. She is survived by two sons: Steven E. (wife, Ellen) Wermcrantz of Springfield; J. Dennis (wife, Sally) Wermcrantz of Kirkland, WA; four grandchildren: Elizabeth of Madison, WI, Susan of London, England, Kevin and Brian both of Kirkland WA; one brother: Donald E. (wife, Marilynn) of Springfield, MO; one niece and one nephew. Remains will be cremated and a memorial service will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana.
