Mark John Stork, 58, of Chatham died at 2:43 p.m. on Friday, May 23 at St. John�s Hospital. He was born in Springfield on September 2, 1955, to Leo and Mary Kulavic Stork. He was preceded in death by his father and several aunts and uncles. When Mark was an infant he suffered a fever that affected his motor skills and left him with a speech impediment. However, Mark did not let his physical limitations stop him, and he never complained about anything. In 1973 he graduated from Glenwood High School. Throughout his life he worked at Balestri�s Grill, The Prime Rib Rack, Stork�s Catering and ended his career at Goodwill Industries with more than twenty years as a shelter care worker. Mark took pride in his work and always did his best at whatever task he was given. During all those years, Mark never met a stranger or an enemy. He was loved and respected by everyone who knew him. Mark was happiest when he was surrounded by his family, and he brought them much joy and laughter. He and his mother spent a lifetime taking care of each other. Mark was famous for knowing every family member�s birthday and age � and teasing them about getting older. He was a parishioner at St. Joseph the Worker in Chatham. He liked watching basketball, football and baseball (especially the Cubs), and also enjoyed music, card games, and playing his Lottery numbers. Mark is survived by his mother, Mary Stork of Chatham; his brothers Bob (Donna) Stork of Springfield, Don (Hazel) Stork of Riverton and Leo (Carol) Stork of Springfield; sisters Mary Ann Smith of Auburn and Judy (Rick) Farley of Riverton; eight nieces, four nephews, great-nieces and nephews, as well as aunts, uncles and cousins. His family will greet friends from 4-7pm, Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Staab Polk Memorial Home, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham and from 9-10am Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at St. Joseph the Worker Church, with Funeral Mass to follow at 10am. Fr. Dennis Kollross will be officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph the Worker Church, 700 E. Spruce St, Chatham, IL, The Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, 630 S. 6th St, Springfield, IL or the charity of your choice.
