

Marlene was born on March 24, 1938, in East Peoria, IL, the daughter of Lloyd A. and Dorothy Hensen Fountain. She married Bill G. Holloway on July 14, 1972, in Peoria; he preceded her in death on June 6, 2008. She added years to Bill’s life and life to his years. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her brother.
Marlene was a graduate of East Peoria Community High School. She worked at Caterpillar, retiring in 1972. After retirement, she owned “Marlene’s Closet.” Marlene was a loving person and a friend to all. She will be sorely missed. She was on the board at Oak Hill Cemetery in Palmyra and a very active member of Grace Baptist Church, where she was known for the delicious desserts she would bring to church functions. Marlene was an outstanding decorator, talented in making crafts, which she sold and gave away, and an excellent cook who made many home cooked meals for her family. She also very much enjoyed playing cards with friends.
She is survived by her stepson, Dave Holloway of Auburn; one granddaughter, Sara Warren of Springfield; one great-granddaughter, Kaylee Rhodes; and her beloved dog, Muffy.
Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
