

Marshall E. Branham, 75, of Chatham, passed away after a brief illness, Monday, June 27, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born July 8, 1940, in Springfield to the late Milton and Betty Dodge Branham. He married Sandy Yates, August 25, 1963 and she preceded him in death on March 4, 1998. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Eleanor Branham. Marshall served 25 years in the Illinois National Guard, retiring as a Command Sgt. Major. He worked for Fiat Allis until they closed the plant in Springfield and then for the Teacher�s Retirement System as building and grounds maintenance supervisor until retirement, after 20 years of service. He enjoyed bowling and was on several leagues in Chatham and Springfield. Marshall was a history buff and compiled family genealogy. He was a family man and loved spending time with his �little buddy� (grandson) Maxwell and his nieces and nephews. He was a loving and generous father and will be greatly missed by his daughter, Pam (Judy) Branham of Bloomington, MN; son Mark Branham, of Springfield; grandson, Maxwell Branham of Bloomington, MN; brothers: Morse (Marietta) Branham of Olathe, KS, Meredith (Rose) Branham of Chatham, Mike (Pam) Branham of Chatham; several nieces, nephews and cousins. His family will greet friends from 11am until 1pm, Thursday, June 30, at Staab Polk Memorial Home, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham. The Inter-Veteran�s Burial Detail of Sangamon County will conduct military honors at 1:30pm, Thursday, preceding a graveside service at Chatham Memorial Cemetery, with Paula Staab Polk, funeral celebrant.
