

Marvin was born September 15, 1927, in rural Marlette, MI, the son of Henry and Rebecca Vanderwarker Harris. He married Eleanor Stanczak on September 6, 1952, in Marlette, MI.
Marvin graduated from Marlette High School in 1946 and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Japan. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Tri-State College in Angola, IN. Marvin was self-employed as a tax accountant. He was a member of the American Legion Post #32 where he was a past commander, the Forty and Eight since 1983, where he was a Grand Commissaire Intendant for 25 years and also Grand Chef, and the Northenders VFW Post 10302. Marvin enjoyed vegetable gardening, traveling, and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Bill and Tom Harris.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Eleanor Harris of Springfield; daughters, Deborah Dove and Darlene (Robert) Harris-Kresse, both of Riverton; granddaughters, Amanda and Jennifer; and beloved dog, Sierra.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.
The family will host a graveside ceremony at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 3, 2021, at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County and Department of Defense. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the American Legion Post #32, 1120 Sangamon Ave., Springfield, IL 62702.
