

Mary Agnes was born on February 5, 1950, in Springfield, the daughter of George L. Westenberger, Jr. and Mary Margaret Dagon Westenberger. She married James E. Albers on September 6, 1975.
Mary Agnes was a graduate of Ursuline Academy. She earned her nursing degree from the University of Colorado and her master’s degree from the University of MO in St. Louis. She worked as a Nurse Practitioner at the Springfield Clinic Women’s Health. She previously worked as a labor and delivery nurse at Memorial Medical Center. Mary Agnes enjoyed quilting, playing the harp, and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter, Mary Grace Parrini; brother-in-law: Edward Wellman Jr.
She is survived by her husband, James E. Albers of Springfield; four children, Sarah Albers of Springfield, Emily (husband, Christopher) Daniels of Carmel, IN, Katherine Albers of Seattle, WA, and James “Alex” Albers of Bloomington; four grandchildren, Aidan Flynn, Ian Carroll, Alexander and Maxwell Daniels; five siblings, George L. (wife, Mary Catherine) Westenberger III of Jacksonville, John Westenberger of Springfield, Anne Wellman of Firestone, CO, Janet (husband, Joe) Vespa of Springfield, and Richard (wife, Betsy) Westenberger of Atlanta, GA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.
Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 8, 2023, at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield.
Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1725 South Walnut St., Springfield with Rev. Jeff Grant, celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
