Mary Ann Hunt

Mary Ann Hunt, 81, of Springfield, died at 1:10 a.m. on Friday, October 5, 2018, at St. Johns Hospital. Mary Ann was born September 9, 1937, in Lincoln, the daughter of Charles J. and Marguerite Power Ludwig. She married Stuart W. Hunt on October 27, 1957, in Springfield; he preceded her in death in 2009. Mary Ann graduated from Ursuline Academy in 1955 and enjoyed her life as a mother and homemaker. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and enjoyed sewing, baking, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Mary Ann was a foster parent to many children who were served by Catholic Charities and was known by many of her childrens friends as "Mama Hunt". She was employed with the State of Illinois for 20 years. She was also preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Hubert J. and Philip C. Ludwig. She is survived by her children, Shawn (husband, Michael) Moore of Overland Park, KS, Stuart (wife, Gail) Hunt II of Girard, Mary Ann (husband, Joe) Bull, Charles Hunt, Colleen (husband, Bryce) Payne, Amy (husband, Brad) Jackson, and Ralph (wife, Lisa) Hunt, all of Springfield; fourteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret Ludwig of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2018, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 12, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1345 N. 6th St., Springfield with Rev. Manuel P. Cuizon, celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
