Mary Florence Barnett

Mary Florence Barnett, 85, of Springfield, died at 4:45 p.m. on Monday, August 25, 2008 at her residence. Mary was born in Jacksonville, the daughter of Terrance E. and Daisy Irene Steere Watkins. She married Allen D. "Barney" Barnett on May 1, 1948. He preceded her in death in 1991. Mary was a homemaker and was retired from the State of Illinois Department of Revenue. Also preceding Mary in death were her parents and two brothers, John and Earl Alexander Watkins. She is survived by her son, Ted (wife, Linda) Treece of Waverly; her daughters, Pam Barnett of Springfield, Shelley (husband, Patrick) Ruyle of Evergreen, CO, and Cathy (husband, Ronald) Fagan of Springfield; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and her brother, Donald Lee Watkins of Litchfield Park, AZ; in addition to several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 29, 2008 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. A funeral ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield with Vaughn Beeman officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 687 E. Linton Ave, Springfield, IL 62703.
