

Mary G. Barrow, 72, of Springfield, IL, passed away on October 2, 2026, at her residence. After a long and courageous battle with cancer, she passed peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family. Throughout her journey, she faced every challenge with extraordinary strength, courage, and grace.
She was born on September 30, 1954, in Springfield, IL, the daughter of James and Georgina (Bruckner) Wilkin. Mary married Terry Barrow on August 2, 1980. Together they shared two daughters and 44 years of marriage. Through the years, they enjoyed traveling, going to concerts, and riding their motorcycle in town and across country.
Mary graduated from Ursuline Academy and dedicated much of her life to being a homemaker and caring for her family. She also worked for several years at a veterinary clinic and pursued an interest in dog training.
Mary had a deep love for animals and a genuine kindness that extended to everyone she met. She never knew a stranger and had a remarkable ability to make friends wherever she went. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, both flowers and vegetables, and traveling. Some of her favorite destinations included Wyoming, Utah, and Scotland. She especially appreciated the beauty of nature and treasured the time she spent surrounded by family.
Above all, Mary cherished her grandchildren and loved making memories with them. She will be remembered for her warm heart, adventurous spirit, love of animals, and the lasting friendships she formed throughout her life. Mary had a diverse love of music, with rock and roll among her favorites. She especially enjoyed listening to artists such as Ozzy Osbourne and Metallica.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Terry.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Jessica Barrow of Springfield and Katherine (Ivar) Blessing of Chatham; four grandchildren, Tessa Barrow of Springfield, and Spencer, Avery, and Parker Blessing all of Chatham; siblings, Michael Wilkin of Springfield, Kevin Wilkin of Pawnee, and LeighAnn (Dan) Szabados of Springfield; two nieces, Lauren and Paige; nephew, Drew; and her faithful dog, Izzie.
Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
