Mary was born on July 23, 1935, in Hampton, GA, the daughter of Otis and Lillie Mildred (Smith) Reid. She married Richard F. Brown, Sr. on November 12, 1962.
Mary grew up in Georgia and was a member of Wardell Methodist Church. She was a member of St. John Ame Church in Springfield. Mary was one of fourteen children. She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading her Bible. Mary drew strength from her faith and devotion to her family.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Melinda Brown; parents; and all of her siblings.
Mary is survived by her husband, Richard F. Brown, Sr.; sons, Raymond Brown, Richard (Cheryl) F. Brown, Jr., Ronald (Lashawnda) Brown, and Randal Brown; daughters, Terri and MaryAnn Brown; fifteen grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
