Mary Louise Brownell, 96, of Springfield, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2015, at Regency Nursing Care. Mary was born on December 30, 1918, in Springfield, the daughter of the late Clarence William and Gertrude Lue (Lewis) Becher. Mary was wed to George James Brownell in St. Louis, MO, in 1940, he preceded her in death in 1974. Mary worked as an office manager for over 30 years for the USDA. Outside of work Mary was a member of NARFE, Home Extension, Women’s Club of Springfield, Flower City Chapter # 152, and First Christian Church Springfield, IL.
Funeral services are under the direction of Bisch & Son Funeral Home, 505 E Allen St. Springfield, IL 62703. A service officiated by Rev. Rick Irwin will be held on Monday, February 9, at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Private burial will be held at a later date at Camp Butler National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church.
