Mary Justine (Metzger) Claunch

Mary Justine (Metzger) Claunch, 87, went to be with her Lord at 11:53 p.m. on Friday, March 24, 2017. Mary was born January 18, 1930 in Springfield, the daughter of Albert and Catherine Flannigan Metzger. She married James L. Claunch on June 17, 1950 in Springfield. Mary was employed with Horace Mann Insurance Company until her retirement after 25 years of service. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the St. Louise de Marillac Society, and the Knights of Columbus Council 364. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family, gambling and playing Bingo. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, James L. Claunch of Springfield; her children, Kathy Claunch of Taos, NM, Mike (wife, Holly) Claunch of Springfield, Mary Lynn King of Indianapolis, IN, Patty (husband, Steve) Hanson of Plainfield, Dave (wife, Monica Jenot) Claunch of Springfield, and Greg Claunch of Chicago; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara (husband, Joe) Robinson of Simi Valley, CA and Judy (husband, Jim) Antonacci of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 10:00-10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at St. Joseph Church, 1345 N. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Mass: 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at St. Joseph Church with Rev. Steven A. Janoski, celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
