Mary Elizabeth Coughlin

Mary was born on February 3, 1937, in Springfield, the daughter of William and Margaret (Gaffney) Coughlin.

She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy and worked as an Assistant Branch Manager at Security Bank for 31 years, retiring in 1999. Mary was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; half-brother; William Coughlin; great-niece, Stephanie Coughlin; and companion, Chuck Phillips.

Mary is survived by her great-nieces, Elizabeth Sides of Williston, VT, and Meaghan Cortes of Schaumburg, IL; great-nephew, Matthew Denny of Schaumburg, IL; nephews, William Coughlin of Martin, TN, and Michael Coughlin of Ottawa, IL; and niece, Elizabeth Denny of Schaumburg, IL. Mary was also a beloved great-great-aunt to Jacob, Abby, Maggie, and Sarah Sides.

Visitation & Funeral Mass: Family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 14, 2023, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1930 Barberry Dr., Springfield, IL. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Clinton Honkomp OP, celebrant.

Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
