

Mary Agnes Dee, 70, of Springfield, died at 1:47 p.m. on Sunday, October 9, 2005, at her home. She was born on August 10, 1935, in Cantrall, the daughter of Alex and Anne Gillespie Wasilewski. She married John T. “Jack” Dee, Jr., on June 6, 1959 at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Athens. Mrs. Dee graduated from Athens High School in 1953. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church where she belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society, St. Vincent de Paul Society and she also assisted in serving funeral luncheons at church. Mary Agnes also visited nursing homes through the Visiting Nurses Association, where she prayed the rosary with residents. A homemaker and mother to many, Mary Agnes also volunteered at St. John’s Breadline for a number of years and when she lived in Prophetstown, she helped with the establishment of a nursing home for young paraplegics called, “Winning Wheels”. She loved classical music, church and reading. She danced, sang and played in the band when she was young. She was preceded in death by one son: Daniel J. Dee, parents; four brothers: Vincent, Alex, Bernard and Gene Wasilewski and one sister: Pat Brennan. She is survived by her husband; John T. “Jack” Dee, Jr. of Springfield; three children: Maria M. (husband, Robert) Buchwald of Heidelberg, Germany, Geri (husband, Glen) Bell of Athens and Jason (wife, Janelle) Dee of Springfield; four grandchildren: Courtney and Carey Buchwald, Taylor Rae Dee and Joshua Bell; two brothers: Mike (wife, Marilou) Wasilewski of Springfield, Andy (wife, Elaine) Wasilewski of Marquette, MI, one sister: Barb Harrison (husband, Morris Wilcoxon) of Athens and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 13, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 14, 2005, at Christ The King Catholic Church, 1930 Barberry Dr., Springfield with Reverend Clinton P. Honkomp, O.P. celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
