Mary “Patty” Patricia DeVoy, 73 of Auburn, formerly of Springfield, died at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, February 5, 2006. Patty was born on February 5, 1933 in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of Joseph A. and Carol R. Ridpath DeVoy. Patty attended Southwestern Missouri State University in Springfield, MO. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and graduated in 1954 with a degree in Education. She taught for one year at Tri-City High School prior to moving to Springfield and teaching in District 186. Patty was a teacher for District 186 from 1955 until her retirement in 1989. Over the years she taught at Matheny Elementary and Hay Edwards Elementary and she was a former member of the Illinois Education Association. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Cordine A. DeVoy and one brother, Joseph DeVoy. Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 8, 2006 at Oak Hill Cemetery, with Scott Brindley officiating.
