Mary E. Dougherty, 87, of Springfield, passed away on December 19, 2025 at Arc at Sangamon Valley. She was born on October 24, 1938 in Springfield to Raymond Pearce and Helen Kane. She married William Dougherty Jr., on August 17, 1963 and he survives.
Mrs. Dougherty is also survived by one daughter Chris (Brian) Hand of Springfield, two grandchildren: Michael Guinan of Chatham and Amanda Hand of San Francisco and one sister Linda (Lee) Williams of Springfield. She was preceded in death by two brothers: James R. Pearce and Patrick Pierce and her stepmother Berniece C. Pierce.
Mary graduated from Lanphier High School and she worked for Illinois Bell for thirty two years, retiring in 1991.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm on Friday December 26, 2025 at Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 East Allen Street, with burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
