

Mary was born December 4, 1955, in Springfield, IL, the daughter of John Henry and Maryann (Farrand) Hewitt.
Mary graduated from Riverton High School in Riverton, Illinois. She was a proud member of the Old House Society of Bloomington, Illinois, where she enjoyed sharing her appreciation for historic homes and preservation.
Mary dedicated many years of her professional life to the field of information technology. She built a respected career at the State of IL and later continued her service with State Farm. Throughout her career, she was known for her strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to help others. In addition to her work in technology, Mary was the proud and successful owner of Farmhouse Antiques, where she lovingly restored antiques, woodworking and brought their natural beauty back to life.
Outside of work, Mary found great joy in the things she loved most. She had a deep appreciation for antiques and spent many happy hours exploring and collecting pieces that reflected her love of history. She also cherished horses and the beauty and spirit they represent. Above all, Mary held a special pride in the American flag, which symbolized the values she believed in and respected throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Maryann.
Mary is survived by her children, Jason (Julie) Salmon of East Peoria, IL and Lindsey England of Springfield, IL; one grandchild, Daltyn England of Springfield, IL; siblings, Robert (Kim) Hewitt of Barclay, IL and George Hewitt of Sherman, IL; aunts; and many nieces and cousins.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 pm on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield, IL 62703.
