

Mary Jett Lanterman Polite, 79, of Springfield, IL, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2012, at her residence. The daughter of the late Origen and Beulah Bauman Jett, she was born April 25, 1933, in Breckenridge, IL. Mary is survived by her daughters Kim (Rick) Willey of Springfield and Gail (Mark) Silva of New Berlin; grandchildren Brea Frieze, Bryne Willey and Kaylea Toole, all of Springfield; sisters Barbara Retzloff and Carolyn Wilson, both of Rochester; several nieces and nephews. A graduate of Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Mary was a surgical nurse at Memorial Hospital for five years and a family practice RN for Dr. Stuart Yaffe for over 30 years. She inspired in her family and those around her, the love of medicine and caring for others. Mary was an avid Indy 500 and NASCAR fan. She kept her mind challenged by doing crossword puzzles, quilting, embroidery, stitchery and crocheting. Mary was a member of South Fork Church of Christ in Rochester, serving on several committees � prayer chains, VBS, Bible studies, and coordinating funeral dinners for her church. Visitation: Monday, November 12, 5-7PM, at Staab Polk Memorial Home, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham. Services: Tuesday, November 13, 10AM, at Staab Polk Memorial Home, Chatham, with Pastor Josh Bennett officiating. Burial follows at Roselawn Memorial Park in Springfield.
