Mary Jo Jones

Mary Jo Jones, 63, of Springfield, died at 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center. Mary Jo was born December 30, 1952 in Alton, IL, the daughter of Edward L. and Lois L. Meyer Broderick. She married Michael P. Jones on April 7, 1973 in Alton. Mary Jo graduated from Marquette High School in Alton and attended Gem City School of Business. She was a G.I.A. certified diamond appraiser and owned Jones Jewelers with her husband. She was a member of Christ the King Church and the Springfield Motor Boat Club. Mary Jo was a dedicated, faithful wife and mother, and friend to everyone. She enjoyed sailing, motorcycling, loved lighthouses, and was proud of her Irish heritage. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Michael P. Jones of Springfield; two sons, Matthew Jones of Springfield and Andrew (wife, Nikole) Jones of Hinckley, IL; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dogs, Deci and Ginger. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. Private family ceremonies will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 675 E.
