

Mary C. (Chaudoin) Knapp, formerly of Springfield, passed away at 3:03 p.m. on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at Memorial Medical Center. Mary was born on March 20, 1931 in Nortonville, the daughter of Monroe and Meda Cox Chaudoin. She married Charles Knapp on September 15, 1948 in Nortonville. Mary was a beloved wife and mother. She was active in PTA when her children were in school. She later worked as a waitress at Sun Rise Caf and Donut Shop and Black Angus Steak House. Mary was known for her baked macaroni and cheese, fried chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes with milk gravy and cherry supreme. She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Leslie "Ike" Cox and Forest "Dale" Chaudoin. She is survived by her husband, Charles Knapp of Meredosia; two sons, David (wife, Paula) Knapp of Jasper, IN and Steven (wife, Crissy) Knapp of Chatham; two daughters, Veda (husband, Bob) Vaughn of Chatham and Lynda (husband, Kenny) Wardlow of Springfield; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and one sister, Joan (husband, John) Allen of Nortonville. The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 6, 2010 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, IL and from 11:00 a.m.-12:45 p.m. on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at Youngblood Baptist Church, 2449 Nortonville Rd., Nortonville, IL. A funeral ceremony will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at Youngblood Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Youngblood Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
