She was born on March 16, 1952, in Hardinsburg, KY, the daughter of Robert A. Sr. and Virgie M. (Hale) Lewis.
Mary loved spending time with friends and family, traveling (she visited Florida and Branson, MO, to name a few), car rides, and listening to country music (especially Patsy Cline). She was a strong-willed, loving, determined fighter who always went above and beyond and had a good sense of humor.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Regina Dale Bauereiss; and brother, Tony Lewis.
Mary is survived by her sons, Ron (Kim) Matrisch, Jr. and Herbert (companion, Ashlee Wells) Schmidt, Jr., both of Springfield; grandchildren, Jerome Schmidt, Hannah Matrisch, and Nate (fiancée, Alexa Heavner) Matrisch; great-grandchild, Graham Matrisch; sisters, Ann Budd, Alice Kuizinas, and Rita Lewis, all of Springfield; brother, Joe (Judy) Lewis of Petersburg, IL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 9:00 to 11:15 a.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Butler Funeral Home – Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield, followed by the Ceremony at 11:30 a.m. with Joe Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
