Mary Ann McNamara

Mary Ann McNamara, 88, of Springfield, formerly of Taylorville, died at 6:45 a.m. on Monday, October 26, 2009 at Sunny Acres Nursing Home. Mary Ann was born November 2, 1920 in Taylorville, the daughter of William S. and Mary Dougherty Jones. She married Leo "Lee" P. McNamara in Highland, IL in 1984. He preceded her in death in 1995. Mary Ann graduated from Taylorville High School in 1938. She was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving as a Second Lieutenant in a MASH unit stationed in the Philippines. Mary Ann was employed as a nurse at St. John's Hospital and eventually went to work for the State of Illinois as a healthcare facility inspector. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and brother, William Jones. She is survived by a brother, David (wife, Suzanne C.) Jones of West Bend, WI; sister-in-law, Mary Jones of AZ; one niece; five nephews; and several great nieces and nephews. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Mass will be held at 1p.m. on Friday, October 30, 2009 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N. Amos Ave., Springfield, IL with Rev. Robert J. Jallas, celebrant. Burial will be at a later date at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be provided.
