Mary J. Murphy, 81, a resident of Springfield for most of her life, died Saturday, November 7, at Union County Hospital Nursing Home in Anna. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Genevieve Murphy of Springfield. She worked at the Roman Catholic Diocese of Springfield, Springfield Park District, Blessed Sacrament Parish and, in Milwaukee, for SquareD Company. She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Murphy. She is survived by her sister, Margaret Huck of Carbondale; her brother, James Murphy of Washington, D.C.; her sister-in-law, Phyllis Murphy of Bloomington, IN; and nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N. Amos, Springfield. Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Robert Jallas, celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
