Aggie was born January 24, 1938, in Mt. Sterling, IL, the daughter of Mathias and Mary (Keltz) Volk. She married D. Robert “Bob” Patterson on October 24, 1959, at St. Joseph Church in Mt. Sterling.
Aggie graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in Mt. Sterling. She was a member of Christ the King Parish where she volunteered at both the Church and school for many years. Aggie was of strong faith, she was devoted to God and her church, and she was boundlessly empathetic. Aggie cared about others and prayed for the sick and suffering. She innately wanted to take care of others and her soul was truly good.
Aggie worked hard from sunup to sundown. Her home was impeccable, and she cherished it. She was a true giver and was always helping her kids, a family member, a neighbor, or anyone in need. She gave tirelessly and unconditionally. She wanted no acknowledgement and was happiest taking care of others. Aggie was the rock of her family. Her quiet strength was always present, and she always seemed to uncannily make your problems seem smaller and less important than you originally thought.
Aggie had to keep close tabs on her children and grandchildren. Worrying and praying for each of them was part of her daily routine. She was proud of her family and her greatest joy was talking or spending time with her grandkids. She loved to sit and visit at the kitchen table with family and friends, and always had fresh brewed iced tea and a cookie of some kind available for her guests. Her strength and practicality were comforting to all, and she will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Louis “Dick” Volk, Frank Volk, James “Jim” Volk, and Robert “Bob” Volk; and sisters, Shirley Langan and Kathryn Shelts.
Aggie is survived by her husband, D. Robert "Bob” Patterson of Springfield; children, Jeffrey (Marci) Patterson of Quincy, Deborah (Tom) DiLello of Springfield, Michael (Mendy Riddle) Patterson of Noblesville, IN, Patrick (Nicki) Patterson of Springfield, and Julie Patterson of Springfield; grandchildren, Derek, Grace, Jimmie, Jack, and Taylor Patterson, and Dominic DiLello; siblings, Teresa (Bob) Frazier of Pittsfield, IL, Sr. Mary Samuella, OP of Springfield, and Larry Volk of Mt. Sterling; and several nieces and nephews.
