Mary Catherine Schweska

Mary Catherine Schweska, 87, of Springfield, died at 10:43 a.m. on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at St. John's Hospital. Mary was born October 28, 1923 in Illiopolis, the daughter of Andrew and Sadie (McCue) McGee. She married Joseph E. Schweska on October 25, 1947 at Sacred Heart Church. He preceded her in death on June 8, 2002. Mary graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1942, where she was a Border. She was the parish secretary of Sacred Heart Church for 25 years. Mary was most proud of her family and her Irish heritage. She is survived by her brother, Tom (wife, Barbara) McGee of Springfield; her eleven children, Joe (wife, Gloria) Schweska of Springfield, Marilyn (husband, David) Campbell of Belvidere, Mark (wife, Lynn) Schweska of West Palm Beach, FL, Barb (husband, Stan) Hardwick of Des Plaines, Libby (husband, Dan) Fuchs of Davenport, IA, Kate, (husband, Bob) Trost of Carrollton, Tom (wife, Linda) Schweska of Springfield, Sally (husband, Randall) Rabbitt of Delray Beach, FL, Danny (wife, Lisa) Schweska of Springfield, Debbie (husband, John) Ehemann of Greendale, WI and Coleen (husband, Jeff) Ishmael of Petersburg, twenty grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 15, 2010 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at Sacred Heart Church, 730 S. 12th St., Springfield with Rev. Msgr. Kenneth Steffen, celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
