Mary Katherine Scott

Mary Katherine Scott, 83, of Springfield died Thursday July 4, 2002 at. St. John's Hospice. She was born April 17, 1919, the daughter of William B. and Clara Bretz Golden. She married Robert F. Scott July 26, 1947, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She was a devoted wife and mother for nearly 55 years. Mary was a founding member of Christ the King Parish, where she was also involved in the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a member of the St. Louise De Marillac Guild, St. Joseph's Coterie, St. John's Hospital Samaritans, The Care Center of Springfield and Tau Phi Gamma Sority. Mrs Scott was preceded in death her sister, Betty Jean Colson and her brother, William B. Golden. She is survived by her husband, Robert F. Scott, of Springfield; six children, Joan M. (husband, Bruce A.) Beeman of Springfield, R. Stephen (wife, Lynn Francis) Scott of Springfield, Gregory A. (wife, Lucinda A.) Scott of Springfield, IL, M. Sharon (husband, Peter J.) Sander of Springfield, Maureen A. (husband, Mark V.) Timmermann of Belleville and Michael B. (wife, Tamara L.) Scott of Lake Worth, Florida; 17 grandchidren; one sister, Dorothy M. Corrigan of Springfield, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 3-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 7, 2002 at Christ the King Catholic Church with a prayer service 3:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held Monday, July 8, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church. With the Rev. David Lantz, Officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Hospice, 800 East Carpenter, Springfield, IL 62702.
