Mary Louise Shiffer, 72, of Taylorville, died at 8:40 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2003 at St. Vincent Memorial Hospital in Taylorville. Mary was born November 16, 1930 in Springfield, the daughter of James C. and Mary Evelyn Rhoades. She married LeRoy Franklin Shiffer October 10, 1968 in Clinton; he preceded her in death October 21, 1983. Mrs. Shiffer was employed as a cook for various restaurants and she was a member of Four Square Gospel Church in Springfield. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Pauline Mae Rhoades. She is survived by one brother; James Joseph (wife, JoAnn) Rhoades of Peoria, AZ; two sisters: Alice June (husband, Marvin, Sr) Thomas of Edinburg, Janet Marie (husband, Jerry) Vargo of Silverdale, WA and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home from 12-1:00 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2003. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2003 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Elder Lyle Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
