

Mary V. Skipton, 100, of Springfield, died at 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. Mary was born December 16, 1916 in Memphis, TN, the daughter of Ossie and Mary Etta Williams. She married Robert Skipton on October 29, 1937; he preceded her in death on January 21, 1985. Mary was an avid golfer and a talented artist. She was also a tour guide at the Old State Capitol. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for 70 years. She worked at Sangamo Electric and as a secretary for her husband's business. She is survived by her son, Stephen A. Skipton of Springfield; and one grandchild, Carla D. Skipton of Champaign. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. on Monday, March 27, 2017 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 11:30 a.m. on Monday, March 27, 2017 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, with Pastor Thomas Radtke officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
