Mary Rita Smalley

Rita was born on August 16th in Covington, KY, the daughter of Paul and Ferne Smith Reinermann. She married Paul Smalley, M.D.; he preceded her in death on July 19, 2007.

Rita earned her master's degree from Sangamon State University in Psychology. She was an elementary school teacher in Riverton for many years and was a member of the Church of the Little Flower.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; one sister; and son-in-law, David Boulay.

Rita is survived by her sons, Paul Smalley, Jr of Valley Park, MO and James (Stephanie) Smalley of Washington, DC; daughters, Mary (Carl) Affrunti of Springfield and Ann Boulay of Omaha, Nebraska; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation and Funeral Mass: Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Monday, March 7, 2022, at Church of the Little Flower, 800 Stevenson Dr., Springfield, IL. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m.

Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
