Maryclare Harrold McCormick

Maryclare Harrold McCormick, 90, of Springfield, passed away at 2:49 p.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center. Maryclare was born July 9, 1926 in Chicago, the daughter of James P. and Mary "Ree" Connolly Harrold. She married Charles B. "Chuck" McCormick on September 9, 1951 at St. Angela's Church in Chicago. He preceded her in death on October 16, 2014. Maryclare graduated from Notre Dame High School in Chicago. She then went onto earn a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from Mundelein College. She was employed as an educator and social worker. She was also a longtime servant of Catholic Charities both through employment and volunteer work. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and James Weldon Johnson Study Guild. She was very fond of St. Angela Alumni Association of Chicago and Loyola/Mundelein Alumni Association. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, singing, playing piano, gardening, knitting, traveling, and reading. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael McCormick; two sisters, Frances "Fran" Harrold and Margaret "Marge" Harrold; and two brothers, James "Buddy" Harrold and William "Billy" Harrold. Maryclare is survived by her daughter, Kathleen (husband, William) Ploetz of Lenoir City, TN; two sons, Martin (wife, Juanita) McCormick of Forest Lake, MN and Stephen (wife, Shannon Dewith) McCormick of Springfield; four grandchildren, Carey McCormick, Conor McCormick, Julie (husband, Daniel) Halland and Justin Ploetz; two great-grandchildren, Logan Hall and Landon Hall; sister-in-law, Mary Lois Langlotz; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and close friend, Juanita Smith Barton. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield. Memorial Gathering will begin with a prayer service. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at St. Colette Church, 3900 Meadow Drive, Rolling Meadows, IL, with Rev. Michal Lewon officiating. Burial will follow at 12 p.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Cemetery, 1185 W. Algonquin Road, Palatine, IL.
